JULY 2019
Ever since high school I wanted to be an interior designer. I was always good in art class but also enjoyed math so I figured interior design would be a good mix of my favorite subjects. And luckily for me it worked out and I was able to get my Bachelor’s Degree from UW-Madison in Design and have now been an interior designer for 8 years.
What type of design are you passionate about?
Residential design is my focus. I work for a residential builder so I am involved in all aspects of the design build process for a custom built home. I help clients from start to finish to select every finish in their home, whether that be on the exterior or the interior. I love being able to work in multiple areas of design, from cabinets, to flooring, to lighting etc.
What do you love about design?
I love being able create a unique design for each and every client. No one home is alike so it keeps my job fun and exciting. Each project has it’s own character and I get to be apart of making the clients vision come to life.
How has being a member of ASID helped you in your career?
ASID is a good networking tool and is also a great way to show you as a designer are involved in the profession which in turn is a great credential to have.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy spending time with my husband and two kids Oliver (4) and Hazel (1). I also enjoy working out at a Crossfit gym and competing in local Crossfit competitions.
