INTERIOR DESIGN PROFESSIONALS AND DESIGN STUDENTS! Mark your calendars for CAPITOL DAY – a joint advocacy effort of the Wisconsin Chapters of ASID and IIDA!
You may ask… “The interior design legislation, WI Act 195, that allows a Wisconsin Registered Interior Designer to sign and stamp their own non-structural interior alteration documents has passed already… why do interior design professionals still need Capitol Day?” “I am an interior design student; so how does this affect me?”
The short answer is that advocacy for the interior design profession is an ongoing process and is about building relationships – those key relationships help pave the way for the future of professional practice for all designers. Capitol Day is an exciting opportunity to put our passion in front of our legislators and remind them of our commitment to maintaining and safeguarding our credentials and our law.
The afternoon’s itinerary will include a tour of the beautiful and historic Wisconsin State Capitol Building, a meeting with key legislators and staff that authored and advocated for our law, followed by visits to your legislators’ offices, to let them know we are out here, and we are committed to our profession! There will be a fun social gathering afterwards – location TBD.
This is a no-cost event to attend, and a means to empower yourself to be visible to your representatives, and advocate for interior designers.
You can:
- Tell your interior designer story!
- Describe what the legislation has done for you personally and professionally!
- Advocate for continued vigilance for the interior design law!
- Advocate for the future of your profession!
More details will be coming soon – we would LOVE to see YOU there!
